Instructions (1) Packet Information Form: Enter your name and contact information. We must be able to contact you to confirm details that are not clear, and it is important to know the source of information. Also include as much information about your branch of the family as possible. This form should be the first one in the packet. Individuals reported in your packet should have a unique number that you assign indicated in the places provided [# ]. This is necessary for us to follow child-parent relationships when other information is not clear. We suggest that you start with the oldest individual as [# 1] with increasing numbers to the youngest. (2) Family Information Form: This is the main form for entering information. Make as many copies as needed and fill one out for every generation. Each male and female on this form should have the number you give them on this sheet and on their parent's family sheet. Their children's numbers should correspond to the sheets for the next generation on which they appear. If an individual has other marriages, fill out a family sheet including that person (with their same number), their other spouse, and any children from that union. If there are notes on an individual or family, check the "notes" box and include a "notes and other information" sheet. If a person is listed in Gene Clopton's 1984 The Clopton Family you may enter their TCF84 number if you know it. You may also use the number (along with the date the database was updated) from the genealogy database at www.cloptonfamily.org. (3) Notes and Other Information: Include historical or personal notes on separate pages indicating their source if possible. You may also include copies of newspaper articles, deeds, etc., but send copies, not originals, since they will be kept on file and not returned. Make a packet to submit with the packet information page first with as many following family and notes pages a necessary. Number all pages in succession with the total number of pages (for example, Page 4 of 32).
